Final Results of the Parliamentary Election to be Announced Tonight


The May 9 election of the parliament with its preliminary results showing the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) winning the most votes, Elections Commissions is to announce the final results amid voiced concern from Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) over the controversy of Thimarafushi vote. The Elections Commission says the final result announcement will commence before 10:00pm tonight but there is still doubt about announcing the Thimarafushi final result. It said it still is uncertain to make a conclusion. The elections commission member Fuadh Thaufeeq said the commission is seeking legal advice on the Thimarafushi issue. Mohamed Mahir, another commission member from the Elections Commission said the voting in Thimarafushi went unlawfully and there is doubt about the accuracy and legality of the Thimarafushi Vote.
