The case of a young girl in Thaa atoll Thimarafushi being sexually abused by a man from the island is under investigation by the Maldives Police Service.
A Police Media Offiical said that the case had been reported to the Police but that no one had been arrested in connection to the incident yet.
A resident of the island said that an old man from the island had sexually abused the young girl, who is studying in Grade 7 of the Thimarafushi Island School, at his house. He said that some people who were suspicious about his activities had spied on him on previous occasions too.
