A woman in Malé was arrested in connection to the discovery of a large amount of alcohol bottles, the Maldives Police Service has said.
A Police Media Official said that bottles were found inside a room in M. Karine Light Uthurubai during a special operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit. The woman they arrested was a 25-year-old Maldivian woman who had rented the room in the house. Police said they had found 90 bottle of Smirnoff Brandy in the room.
Police further said that the owner of the house had no knowledge about the alcohol found in the room and added that they were still investigating the case.
